We are an artist led startup based in Belfast. Using specialist equipment we teach a variety of printmaking techniques and we make our own prints too. Our products are all handmade in-house and we take pride in seeing out the entire process from start to finish.
We transport our specialist printing press and equipment and come to your location. We can also be found doing taster sessions at art fairs and art events. Picture a food van, feeding you with creativity, we serve up craft not crepes!
Being a mobile studio we can spread the creative message further.
We facilitate workshops for children, adults, community groups, office workers, parties, schools, care homes, art fairs, festivals museums, galleries and local councils. We tailor each class to the needs of the group. We opened an online shop for the times that it’s a bit too far for the van to go. We consider our shop as a place to share our passion for printmaking, typography, illustration and bold graphics.
Not everyone can afford to attend creative classes, and often those who would benefit most. With that in mind, Workshop Gives exists to give 10% of the profit from the classes run towards a bursary pot allowing those on lower incomes to join in.
Workshop Makes is a creative organisation founded by Katherine Penney. Katherine graduated with both an M.A & B.A in Fine Art Printmaking from University of Ulster Belfast and spent the next 10 years working in the creative industry in London and Barcelona.
Workshop’s pilot was born in Barcelona (read more in our Blog), travelled to London and developed into Workshop Makes, a more community focused concept.
